It costs $1125... I'll run XLR cords everywhere thank you.

But I do see the value for professional use.

Can't watch the video, I'm at work. Is this mic directional? And by that I mean that the background noise in the PAX-videos is so horrible that I don't watch them.

pretty sure that regardless of what mic you use it would pick up background noise at trade shoes and conventions.

That's true. What about a simple cardboard setup? So you surround Luke and the cameraman with a simple box. Would that work?

Something like that would probably be annoying to setup when your bouncing from booth to booth in a trade show and would also have the potential to ruin lighting. It also would not get rid of all the background noise. Its really just something you have to live with when it comes to videos of that nature. Unless you want them to dub over the video in post with will delay the release of the videos and overall create more work for LTT.

Cardboard would not stop much sound

conventions are loud and there is a lot of sound bouncing around even a hyperdirectional mic would still pick people up as the sound is bouncing off all the walls etc

honestly their sound a trade shows is not that bad,

I just might be too picky then. I prefer the quietness of the studio.

Well...yeah... of course.. I think EVERYONE prefers that... but there is nothing you can do.. its a room where hundreds or thousands of people are shouting and talking and moving things.. there is no way to make that quiet

Microphones will pick up any sound in the air no matter how well you try and isolate them

So much this.

It seems like a really nice piece of kit, but for most people its going to be well beyond both their needs and their budget. If you need wireless, then there are other respected brands out there with much more affordable options like the Audio Technica PRO series or the Shure BLX series. Granted neither are portable, but for 1/4 and 1/3 the price its totally worth it for the vast majority of people.

Off topic: I feel like an odd one out when I say I wish Taran would be a presenter again. I sincerely liked him in Tech Quickie and I want him to present (as much as Luke, Brandon, and Edzel) in the main channel.

Back on topic, I actually find the mic useful and my only gripe is that I wish it was a tad bit longer on the handle, but thats just me.
