I'm putting a build together with a MSI 970 Gaming AM3+ AMD 970 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard and I want to put 6 fans in my case but the motherboard only comes with 2 4 pin fan connectors and 2 3 pin fan connectors. I want to be able o control the fans to be able to turn off 4 of the fans when the system is idling. As I see it, I have to options:

1:I could buy a NZXT Technologies Sentry Mix 2 Fan Controller to hook up the extra fan. As a bonus it would look cool on my case.

2: The other option I have is i could use fan spliters to jury rig the mother. The downside is I don't know how safe that would be. The upside is that the fans could be automatically turned on at certain temps.

Let me know what you think I should do.

Fan splitters would be the easiest solution, it would however make the fans be controlled as a group and not individually. One thing to note it's a good rule of thumb to only have about 3-4 fans max per motherboard header to not overload it.
