980ti sli

jjohnthedon1

Hi guys, so I have been looking on forums for ages to see how the 980ti's

Preform at 4k ultra with no msaa in games. All of the bench marks I have found were with x4 msaa

So I can now confirm for anyone else trying to find the same thing out that

On gta V, witcher 3, far cry 4, dragon age inquisition and watchdogs are all solid 60fps with no aa at 4k with sli 980ti's

I got my second card today and have tried and tested thies games extensively today and they are all solid 60 fps apart from the occasional dips which are to be expected with gaming

Even sli you're going to get dips below at 4k. That's just part of the hardware. Hopefully with dx12 that will reduce greatly, but in all generality you should be fine as long as you're OK with the occasional dip to 50-55fps.

Or I'll put it this way, I hold a pretty steady 45 or so fps in those games without aa, on a stock fury x, which is equivalent in performance to the 980ti at 4k.

Get a gsync monitor with it:)

Drops to the low 40's legit feel like 60fps, it's got to the pomit where I don'y even run fps on screen while I play anymore:D

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

This is true I can't tell the difference at 40 lol but when I say dips I mean 58/57 for a second, and when that happens it doesn't even Stutter

If you're gonna go 4k thats the way to do it, 4k IPS should be considered a different resolution than 4k TN lol

I have the dell p1528q that everyone hates, 30hz god awful tn quality.

Personally I'm gonna stick with 1440p 144hz until (A) we get 144hz 4k ( B) We can get close to using it.

Next year first 4K 120hz monitors after release of Pascal GPU's with Displayport 1.3

We might see the move to 240 or 288hz very soon if Acer claims their new ultrawide 2560x1080 is overclockable to 200hz

I prefer 4k as I'm not a massive first person shooter gamer

But yes 4k 120 will be sick

It's a pretty good tn panel though, and was about three hundred dollars cheaper than the accer ips when I bought it lol

It sits next to my 4k dell, and my acer xb240h, and looks leaps and bounds better than the dell

I looked at that one, the swift was about three hundred dollars cheaper at the time. IPS wouldve been ideal, buuut the rog swift is still pretty kickass lol

No it wasn't. Also mine was just 400€ which is half of the price because of some death pixel in corner :)

I should clarify, I bought my swift used because I felt it reduced the QC issues if someone has had it with no issues.

It was a couple hundred cheaper becuase of this. At the time of typing this the acer is only $120usd more if they're both new.
