Snapdragon 820 is twice as friendly to your battery

The company has revealed that the Kryo CPU at the heart of the chip is up to twice as power-efficient as the Snapdragon 810, even though it's up to two times faster. Part of this leap comes through the use of energy-efficient 14-nanometer FinFET manufacturing and a truly customized 64-bit CPU. However, the real party trick is the 820's use of heterogenous computing, where the chip doesn't have to rely as heavily on its main processor as in past designs. It can ask for the help of the graphics core (the Adreno 530), digital signal processor (the Hexagon 680) and imaging processor (Spectra) in combinations that make the most of what each part can do. Snap a photo, for example, and it'll put all of the above components to work (plus a few more) in relative harmony. That should help the new Snapdragon both reach its peak performance and save power, since it can operate multiple processors in short bursts and quickly shut down those elements it doesn't need. 

 

 

I hope after all these hypes, it wont be a disappointing one.

OT: I feel as though were headed in a direction where the screen will use more of the battery than the CPU.

 

But, then again, this may be more word play in regard to it only being twice as efficient in very specific scenarios. Gimme some real world benchmarks.

When will we see it in phones? By the end of this year or beginning of 2016?

The screen already uses a shit ton more battery then the CPU 

 

or atleast im pretty sure it does

Well usually less electricity = less heat.

The Snapdragon in my LG G2 is a space heater and the screen is at the bottom of the list in power consumption. GG LG and Lollipop

x64 = x86-64 = 64-bit

This is an ARM 64-bit CPU, not a x86-64 CPU.

We are- it will stop when companies stop making 1440p and 4k screens for phones. Stupid.
