New to gaming desktop, ready to pop the cherry and in need of help :D

Le_Acustica

For the past few years I have been doing some light gaming on a laptop that seems it's about to die. I'm completely new to building a desktop from scratch and still learning the basics on what to look for in parts. After some research I came up with these two $700 builds:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($183.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($76.50 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card  ($219.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Thermaltake Versa H22 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($30.60 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $650.56
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 380 4GB Video Card  ($229.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Which would be better and are there any parts that could be swap for a better one?

i'm gonna recommend against the FX processor, not because its slow in general, but because it does SO bad is badly threaded workloads.

with an i3 you're gonna lose some total performance, but it'll run cooler (quieter!) and in badly threaded workloads (like every source engine game ever for example.) it'll do MUCH better.

and something else why i'm gonna push intel here: their stock coolers are mindblowingly easy to install.

i've had two seperate occasions where i gave a complete "newbie" like you a stock intel cooler, and they had it installed before i could tell them how to.

Updated initial post, every response is more than welcome (specially regarding the psu, for I'm unsure how much is needed for each build).
