Need opinions...

Hey guys so i found a WD Passport 1tb HDD for $50 ( http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/cannonvale/other-electronics-computers/1-tb-hard-drive/1087567665 ) anyway my PC is packed for stroage. I have deleted all the things i don't need and my HDD has less than 4gb of stroage left. Anyway i don't have much money to spend as i am saving for an ipad. So i was wondering do you guys think this is a good idea to buy this used HDD? Why/why not? And no no games are going onto it just photos and video edits etc.Also could someone estimate what year it would be?
