I really need to get a better camera for the actual build log pictures My HTC one M8 doesn't do it justice

the lighting ruins it imho, try getting the light source behind the camera

Lighting kills it, step back a bit to capture more set up area and block out some of that light to make it more of a balanced source rather than overwhelming sunlight. Other wise, that looks like a really nice PC :o

What this guy said.  I used to own an HTC One M8 and with good lighting, you can get surprisingly decent results with it.  I've found that that phone does really well with backlighting but extremely poorly with any sort of direct lighting inside the frame so I'm kinda thinking it's the sun glare that's reflecting back at you/the camera that's ruining that shot.  Also, that camera loves macro shots.

 

This is easily the best shot I've ever gotten out of an HTC One M8 camera.

I don't do build logs, but cameras that I do shoot product photography ( which would be like your build logs pictures) are:
