Dell XPS 13 (2015), 128GB or 256GB ?

Alright I have decided that I want a new XPS 13, i5 with 8GB of ram and just the 1080p screen. But I am not decided on the SSD size 128 or 256 ?

I will be just the laptop for general University tasks, not planning on running autocad or programs like that but I think if I had to the laptop would be capable of it. The idea is truly to just have something light/thin (barely noticeable) and durable to carry around all day whether I need it or not I would have it, the machine would be able to most things sure not the fastest but that is what I my Desktop or Lab computers.

XPS with 256GB ssd is $1470

XPS with 120GB ssd is $1270

So the upgrade is $200.... More than it would cost for me to do it myself but that's for parts not my aggravation or time.

My boot drive on my desktop is 120GB and I have like 30GB left on it but there is so much junk (Spotify, iTunes..... and IDK how much in savegames/mods and drivers etc)

With a 128GB worse case is that I get a portable USB3.0 expansion drive but that is one more thing to carry around... what Im trying to avoid.

So what would guys buy? I can afford both but $200 is well simply put a few textbooks and gas so yeah introduction to the future of University I suppose....

I would go with 250, I have 128Gig in mine and it's only JUST enough and I'm only using it a little bit. (No movies or games)

Id get the 256gb (or 512gb) simply as it will mean you shouldnt need to upgrade it down the road.

You own one, What can you say about it? Good, bad etc. I'm always curious to hear user feedback. And thanks for replying.

512 is out the price range/options. But the 256 should be enough to avoid upgrading in the future.

Also for a laptop dont bother with "pro" SSDs, the normal consumer ones will be more than fine.

I wasn't going too, if I did it myself I would just get whatever decent rated ADATA, Crucial or Samsung M.2 was the least expensive. But my trouble with doing it myself is the cloning part.

It really isnt hard to clone? But why do you even need to?

Just do a fresh install and use the embedded SLIC key to activate.
