MSI gaming lineup with Skylake

jos

The machines getting a boost include the heavy-hitting GT72 Dominator Pro G, the thin and light GS70 Stealth and GS60 Ghost, and the GE62 and GE72 Apache Pro. The number four features prominently in some of the upgrades: the new lineup will support Super RAID 4 for the SSD drives, and the RAM is DDR4 (with a speed increase of up to 40 percent). Elsewhere, the graphics cards have been bumped to the newer GeForce GTX 980M or 970M.

The displays are using sRGB for more vibrant colors and they support wide 178 degree viewing angles. The sound is clearer and more immersive, thanks to the included Nahimic audio software.

G Series machines sport SteelSeries keyboards with improved backlighting. But the biggest change on the outside is probably the addition of SuperPort to the GT72 and GS60. You'll get power, USB 3.1 and even video output to two 4K 60Hz displays if the built-in panel isn't cutting it for you. And, while not every MSI machine is getting a SuperPort, you can still expect to see Type-C implemented in some manner across the lineup.

What i can understand is that the super port is USB Type-C with Thunderbolt. to allow these two gaming laptops to drive two 4K monitors and achieve data transfers speed greater than 800mb/s. At the same time, this port inherits the convenient reversible design of USB Type C and its ability to charge high-power devices with a three-amp current.

It's like no gaming performance increase.. Just get Haswell or Broadwell laptops if they're cheaper

Maybe better performance/watt, which matters on laptops, if the price gap isn't too big, I'd definetly go skylake on mobile devices.

It's just newer. Broadwell and haswell will get pushed out even if there is no performance gain. Manufacturer can't expect people to buy old generation so they have to follow.

Yes, but if you have the option and Haswell/Broadwell is cheaper and it costs less, get the H/B generations. If Skylake is your only option, then go for it.

Maybe. If so, then yes. Read my previous reply though, the one I responded to ZetZet. :)
