Fans for R5

Hey guys,

 

Im thinking about getting extra fans for Define S, and ofc I was trying to decide between Noctuas Industrial fans or Corsair SP/AF ones.

 

As I am kind of new to this, I want a tip about which fans are better to be used in Define S for intake ( in front ) since there are no Hard drive cages on the way.

 

Plus I know that Industrial fans are loud, but are they worth the extra loudness ( honestly cant even imagine that they CAN be that loud )

 

Should be an easy answer for u guys, and thanks for the help in advance.

No, they're not worth the noise, they do perform much better but they are horrifically loud (I speak from experience) but PWM so you know...

If 140mm then noctuas, if 120mm then NB Eloops

the industrial fans are loud

if you have a PWM fan controller and can put them to 30 or 40% then they will be quiet

they do have awesome airflow and static pressure to justify the noise though

so if you need more airflow, they can give it to you

 

the corsair fans are also loud, but they dont have very good airflow

avoid them unless you really want them for looks

 

if you want something really quiet, look at the bequiet fans

they have decent airflow but extremely low noise levels

these fans are good for airflow, not so much static pressure

 

fractal design has a bunch of new fans that are also very quiet, but they have airflow and pressure fans of different kinds

look into those if they are available to you already

 

noiseblocker also has good quiet fans, but typically more expensive

Should I use the Static Pressure fans in define S as intake, since the whole thing kinda confused me

Fractals Venturi line of fans are often a bit cheaper and very well performing compared to both options.  Look nicer in my opinion, and perform equally.  Venturi Static Pressure for the front(140mm) and an airflow in the back if you decide to replace it.  (Always go for the larger size if available when between 120 or 140).

Yeah. The front is a bit restrictive, it won't lose you any performance.

First, NO to corsair, i like most of their products, but their fans are overpriced crap. Noctua is the other end of the spectrum, excellent fans, very expensive. I'll leave some recomendations

Thanks for your time   just as I was going through prices, noticed that Fractal fans were actually 1 British pound more expensive than the Noctua NF-A14 pwm,  so to  be completely honest looks like I will be going with Noctua here, but will go through the specs of all the fans you just posted and compare them incase I find something a bit more cheaper with as decent price.

 

 

 

Edit : NF-P14s redux-1500 PWM seem to be going cheaper tho, without any big difference between NF-A14, so its a battle between these two for me

They are very good fans, should be great for a quiet build.

The A14 is basically the updated and improved version of the P14.

Regarding the OP, there's little reason to get iPPC fans over the normal ones if you don't need the improved durability.
