Rev's Tech Restoration #1: GPU(s)! [Major Update #1!] [Picture Heavy]

Dammit, @starcoaster you made me start a weekend project. You sneaky sneaky bastard <3

 

Long story short: I have 3 graphics cards laying around in storage right now.

 

Item numero uno: Asus EN9800GT

 

Numbah two: XFX GeForce 8400GS

 

 

And last, and by no means least, the Leadtek WinFast PX9500GT

 

 

You get to vote which I restore, with a twist!

In the end, all three cards will be restored to their former glory.

Aside from the 9500 GT, which I know definitely works (since I have used it rather recently in my rig before getting my 270X).

The 9800 GT sort of works, as far as I can remember. Thing is, I remember it outputting a green tinted image and it will require some investigation to see if it can be fixed.

The XFX I have no idea the state of, except the lack of screws for the fan.

 

The cards have been graciously salvaged throughout the years and I am unsure of the state they were in before I got them, but I know how they've been treated ever since they've become part of my collection.

 

Why do I want to restore these seemingly pieces of junk? Because I can and I love restoring and refurbishing electronics and I need myself some distractions during the weekends.

Just to make it clear: All three cards will be restored as much as possible. The poll only addresses the order in which I will work on them. Unless something else pops up this weekend, I'll be working on all three this Saturday and/or Sunday, so the poll will be removed Friday night (I'll make sure to post the results and the final restore order).

While the aim is to restore them to their original visual state, I might need to sacrifice some of the looks if the card can be restored to a working state by doing so.

Was bored last night so I started disassembling the cards, getting them ready for refurbishment

Edit 2: Due to unforeseen circumstances at work, I'll be unavailable to work on the cards this month (6-day work week all month and I have prior engagements for most, if not all the Sundays this month). If I catch a bit of breathing room I'll work on them whenever I can and post updates here

my pleasure, I have an XFX 8800GTS arriving soon that I am going to restore and hammer the living shit out of

 

The XFX card I have worries me, since I haven't got the faintest idea if it actually works. I somewhat remember being told that the fan on it doesn't work anymore, but not sure about it

busted or not, it's still getting at least a visual restoration. If I determine it's dead, I'll just take care of the visuals and put it back in storage or start a wall-o-tech arangement
