starting in Star Citizen. What ship / package to get ?

so yeah ! im going into star citizen.  and id like to know what I should get.

should I buy just the p52 ?

 

or get a package like the aurora ar mc starter pack

if I get a package, aurora or mustang ?

I also plan on getting either the vanguard or constellation andremedes when its avalable for the ltt team  though thats later not now

You need Arena Commander to do anything, so either get a package ( I went Mustang w/ Arena Commander ), but getting a standalone ship + $5 arena commander works fine too.

Aurora is an amazing all-around ship and has a bit of everything. The Mustang is purely fighting and is faster than the Aurora (by a small amount) and looks cooler IMHO. As for the P52, I've actually never used it so idk.

Aurora is an amazing all-around ship and has a bit of everything. The Mustang is purely fighting and is faster than the Aurora (by a small amount) and looks cooler IMHO. As for the P52, I've actually never used it so idk.

if after the 3 month insurrance I get killed.  will I loose the ship ?

No idea. I haven't actually bought into SC yet, but I plan on it sooner or later.

The P52 isn't a fully featured ship as it's only supposed to be a small snub fighter to defend the bigger ship it was carried by, but it's cheap and actually usable in Arena Commander.

 

The Mustang is a nice starter ship. The Alpha has a limited amount of weapons but is able to carry a storage box so enough to make some money once the persistent universe launches.

No idea. I haven't actually bought into SC yet, but I plan on it sooner or later.

 

The feature hasn't been brought out into Star Citizen yet - it's supposed to be added closer to SC's full release (whenever that'll be. probably like 2050). So we'll wait to see how that works. As it stands your insurance is forever rn.

I think that they are waiting until the hardware of the average gaming PC catches up a bit, and just making the game the best they can until that time.

That actually is a major misnomer. You can play the game but the only way to get the beta access to the PU, and the pre-order of the full game (squadron 42 with the PU full release) is to have an actual package.

 

The only reason a ship (stand-alone) and the AC modules works is that it gives you AC alpha/beta access and a hangar for the ship. This does not give you a PU character or the full game.

You could just buy the cheapest package with the AC module included, or cheapest package and buy the AC module separate. You can then test out all other ships with REC in the AC module portion of the game. When the PU beta comes out, you can work towards getting UEC for ships outside of the game's VR training sim.

 

Also, the insurance is hull insurance, as long as you have insurance, you will be fully reimbursed for the ship. When insurance runs out, you can renew.

Chris says its a game for high end PCs only and the universe exists but there isn't anything to do in it yet.

They are at the point where all the R&D into the technology is done but they've got to implement it.

I think they are gaining momentum now. Once the foundations are done they can pull people off of that and onto creation.

They will be releasing the large world map in a month or two and that'll be used as a test for the universe

Awesome.

 

Can't wait to play. I like EVE, but it's too much RPG and not enough action for me. That and the damned gate camping pirates.

 

 

Edit: At least this time I can get in, in the beginning, and join up with a band of pirates, and be on the other side of that particular engagement for once
