Cheap good looking camera bag?

Gershy13

Hi Guys,

Im looking for a camera bag, that is good looking, easy to carry and take stuff out of, that can fit all my stuff.

I dont want a rucksack, but more of a carry bag..

I was looking at something like the Lowepro Event Messenger 150.

That is the type of bag i want.

The things i want to fit in:

Canon 650d with 18-55mm Kit lens attached, or with 55-250mm STM attached

18-55mm or 55-250mm (whichever one isn't attached)

A few batteries

50mm f1.8 STM

LCD Viewfinder

Yongnuo 565ex Flash

Canon charger

A few filters

Thanks

Gershy13

Someone I know just bought a camera.

They bought a medium bag, and immediately after they left the store, they realised the bag was to small.

They returned it and got the big bag.

Bigger means better.

Bigger means better.

Completely not true, depends on the gear you want to carry

If I am on a proper shoot I take a big bag, tripod, all my lenses and accessroies

if i am on holiday walking around on the beach I have a small messenger bag  with my camera maybe one or two things

I wish i could try it in store, then i will know exactly how big it is, and if it can fit all my stuff.

But i cant find any stores in the uk that sell that bag.

I just watched a review on the 150. And it looks like it might just about fit some of the stuff i want, but i dont like the whole velcro thing. I prefer a zip like design...

Might have to go and find another bag....

The price is ideal tho.

They never have zips, and you can silence the velco thats a unique feature of the bag

I actually dont know any camera bag with zips :P its very rare they are almost all velcro, press studd, straps or clasps (they might have a zip quick access panel though, and backpacks have zips)

LOL, i hate the colour... just my opinion tho.

I knew about the silence thing, but that clip is still there.

I currently have a Krisyo toploader style bag, i want something similar to that, just a bit wider, and taller, to fit more in it.

That has zips, and its nice and easy, so its not too loud, but still secure...

Those kind of top loaders do but rarely do messenger bags have zips, I find clasps easier and faster and still as secure

I would like to advise, if you are planning to buy at a shop (or even if you order online but there is a local shop that carries the bag you like) then go to the shop with the gear you intend to put in the bag and see how it all fits.  You may or may not find that the bag isn't suitable, you may find another ideal bag, etc.  But don't rely on the specifications (dimensions) of the bags as written on some website.  It is better to see for yourself if it can hold everything while giving you ease of use and access to your gear, before you buy.

100% Agree here, its also suprising how heavy a bag can get, or how cramped (or bulky) a bag can be too

  • 3 weeks later...

The Lowepro Event Messenger 150 is one of the most common starter bags people get, that's until they start hoarding lenses and other equipment, and then they need larger bags. Just remember for travelling you need a bag a bit bigger then what your lenses, camera and filters are so you can fit a water bottle either inside or on the outside, a super thin jacket just incase of wind or rain, and a small snack.
