Best CPU Aircooler for i7 4770

Not a Black
Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

is SR2 easy to install? Cause I do not know how to make a pc so I just want a cooler that i can slap it in without having to pull out my motherboard

The SR2 isn't as easy as the stock cooler to install but you shouldn't need to take out the motherboard to install it. That's what the motherboard tray cutout is for.

The installation can be found at 9:00

Hello, I currently have H440 (white) case with Z97 MSI Krait Motherboard and Gtx 980ti.

I'm trying to get good, silent CPU cooler that can cool i7 4770 with no problem and fit inside my case (also, ease to install).

1 fan slot for cpu cooler. Thank you.

If you only have one fan slot, go with the be quiet! Dark Rock 3 cooler. Is very quiet, cools better than some liquid coolers, and looks good:

Why are you guys recommending coolers that are expensive for a cpu that won't overclock...... Just get a hyper 212 Evo.

Gpu: MSI 4G GTX 970 | Cpu: i5 4690k @4.6Ghz 1.23v | Cpu Cooler: Cryorig r1 ultimate | Ram: 1600mhz 2x8Gb corsair vengeance | Storage: sandisk ultra ii 128gb (os) 1TB WD Green | Psu: evga supernova g1 650watt | Case: fractal define s windowed |

Where are you shopping/located?
What case are you using?

Noctua NH-D15 or Phanteks TC14PE.
Edit: Before you ask, both come with a Y-cable for the fans.

noctua NH-D15

Unnecessarily overkill.

If you're a bit more flexible with stores, the SR Slim and SR2 are good choices.

Otherwise, the 212 Evo is always available at amazon albeit not as quiet. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2

noctua NH-D15

That overkill... waste of money even evo is good enough. HD-D15 is more K series cpu.

Stock cooler will run just fine, since the 4770 is a locked CPU.

No, it's not running just fine. I'm asking for "Cooler Recommendation" not personal opinion. thank you.

4770k or non k, because with non k you can get the hyper 212 evo, excellent cooler :)

The be quiet Pure Rock is a good cooler too.

Apparently its better than the SR2 as @WoodenMarker suggests.

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/7154/quiet-pure-rock-cpu-cooler-review/index6.html

I run mine at 60% to 80% and can't hear it.

I don't remember ever suggesting the Pure Rock being better than the SR2.. because it isn't.

The SR2 is better than the SR Slim so the comparison still makes sense.

Didn't notice I didn't quote you.

The Pure Rock beats the Shadow Rock 2, the Slim beats the Pure Rock and the shadow rock 2

http://www.eteknix.com/quiet-pure-rock-120mm-cpu-cooler-review/3/

I had this issue when I was buying the pure rock as it was new out and all the reviews where foreign. I found that the slim was best then the pure then the SR2 after spending a while translating the reviews.

For me, the few extra degrees off the slim wasn't worth the extra cash and its the easiest to install in all 3 and I got the extra degrees off by asking be quiet! for a spare set of clips and putting on a second fan I had laying around.

The Pure Rock is the worst of the 3. The tests that show otherwise are using open test benches and don't reflect the results in normal pc cases.

It's not? That's strange, since my i5-4590 is running on the Intel stock cooler, and they both have the same TDP. Is it a noise issue?
