GTX970 or R9 390

Price wise... the 390 would probably be the best bet.

You could also go with a 960 or 380 if you don't need to max settings at 1080p

GTX 970 - For high and Ultra settings

GTX 960 - For medium to high settings.

Not all the games can be configured this way.

But 970 is best for FHD gaming.

What's your budget?

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

Ultra 1080 i really dont think you need a 970/ 390. A 380 or 960 would be much better value

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

I have a 960, It doesn't exactly max Out everything so looking for a step up :)

So The R9 390 would be the best bet? would my 600W PSU handle it? It has 46 amps on the 12v rail

Get a GTX 960 2GB/4GB

BF4 : 70-80FPS Ultra

CSGO : 260FPS+ Highest

COD AW : 80FPS+ Ultra

I already have the 960 4gb and its not cutting it, and apparently the 960 isn't fast enough to utilize 4gb properly so I wasted a bit of moneh :P

so looks Like I'll go for either the 390 or the 970 depending on if the lower TDP will really affect the power bill :P

A 970 and 390 should be able to handle all modern games at 1080p at 60+ fps with maxed settings. Could we also get your CPU?

I have a 4GB GTX 960 and I max out all my games (almost all my games) at 1080p. I think it's a good buy.

The 970 would pay off in certain games. You're not going to maintain 60 FPS at Ultra in Crysis 3 or The Witcher 3 at 1080p with a GTX 960, for example. But the 960 is still plenty for most games.

With such a big gap between the two cards, I kind of wish we'd get a 960 Ti or something.

970 and 390 are really ment for 1440p. 1080 I dont believe its worth the extra money to get those cards

970 or 390 will perform well in 1080p if you're looking for a more budget option, you can take a look at the 290>280x>=380.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case
