GPU Causing Slow Boot..

Sylar1155

Hey everyone, my graphics card seems to be slowing my boot time to about 2 minutes. Without the GPU installed my boot is a solid 9 - 12 seconds with my SSD.

Im assuming its something to do with the BIOS wanting to use my CPU's intergrated GPU, does anyone know how to solve this and get my good boot times back?

Its a GTX 690, with an i5 4690k and 16GB's of RAM.

My motherbord is the MSI Gaming 5 Z97 board.

Ask your graphics card manufacturer for a UEFI GOP bios.

It's normal I guess.

Technically that GPU is a heavy one, It has two 680s in it.

Perhaps try update your BIOS if there is any? Or mess up with it's settings?

Its not normal becuase ive had my system booting up in 10 seconds with the GPU installed before.. I done a clean install of windows and this has happened, im installing a few updates from windows update, it might do the trick since theres an NVIDIA one in there..

Remove unnecessary startup programs if there is any.

Use ADWCleaner to remove any adwares and stuff.

Ccleaner for registry errors.

There is absolutely nothing installed but google chrome, Nvidia control centre, CCleaner & steam and some games... Nothing starts on boot up and i have no adware or registry errors..

Windows is nearly done updating so hopefully that will be the fix

I can't think of any.

But I don't know if you've checked for any BIOS update, if not, try it.

Also the OS is just now installed, You'll have to use the system for 3 or more days to settle the system.

It's called Prefetch (I've heard it somewhere)

It'll run fine then.

Hello i see your problem i suggest if you haven't found a good solution try a quick startup program for your computer. i suffered from this once it was happening because to many power cables where in use in only 1 extender make sure you do not have to many overflowing your sockets

Try turning fast boot off in the Windows Power Options, reboot, then turn it back on and see if it makes a difference. Some people notice a speed-up when it is turned off and that the speed stays fast when they turn it back on.
