BarisERY

im planning on buying my new monitor this week i was originally planning on going for the mg279q but i decided that i should go for a bit cheaper monitor and the ACER Predator XG270HU is priced just right it is 150 dollar cheaper than the mg279q where i live but i have one question to the users or to the people with the knowledge is it a 8-bit monitor? how are the colors? are they on asus swift pg278Q level(best tn panel ive seen yet)?

Don't worry about if it's 8bit or not, it is listed as 8bit, so it's either true 8bit, or 6 bit with FRC, but that isn't what you need to worry about.

The panel it uses is a revision of the same panel the BenQ XL2730Z uses, it isn't the same as the one the RoG Swift PG278Q uses, which like you said is probably the best TN Panel out colour wise. So the colours wont be as good, but they will still be very decent for a TN Panel. The bigger issue would probably just be colour shift as you look at it from a non straight on angle, which is where the IPS Panel of the MG279Q would really shine. But for $150 dollars more it may not be worth it to you.

i really dont find the tn viewing angles a problem i curently use a 32'' TN and its barely noticable at the top and the bottom so with 27'' i think there wont be a issue at all i as just worried about the colors beign washed out like other bad also tn monitors ive used

Why not get the xb270hu instead? 300€ more for the superior solution sounds good to me.

...

he says he wants to get the TN to save money and you recommend a even more expensive monitor?

OP I'm currently in the same boat as you, deciding between the XG270HU or the MG279Q. Don't know if you care but I think the bezel free design from the acer is really sexy. My current monitor also has no bezel and it looks great standing on the desk when it's off.

Oh, and read this review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_xg270hu.htm

yea i agree with the bezelless design beign sexy also the 40-144 freesync range is a plus as the mg279q only can do 35-90, i think ive made up my mind with the xg270hu.

You really should squeeze out the extra 150$ and go for the mg279q....   its an IPS    - its a whole different quality level of screen. Those extra 150$ will be the smartest thing you will ever make.

IPS isnt just brighter and with better colors... the most important part is = it doesnt CHANGE its properties and show different brightness/colors/gamma if you relax your neck or sit back in your armchair.

Dont worry about freesync/gsync. A 144hz IPS will be fucking amazing either way.
