Microsoft releases XBox One Elite - New Elite Controller + 1TB SSHD drive

GoodBytes

Microsoft announces a new XBox One model, called the XBox One Elite.

It features a standard XBox One, but its 500GB standard hard drive is replaced by a 1TB Hybrid-HDD (SSHD), which the company claim to boost performance up to 20%.

In addition, it include the new Elite controllers with all the adjustments you normally get, a controller announced at E3 retailing at $150.00 U.S by itself.

The SSHD is way overpriced, so it comes down to the new controller.....doesn't looks to cost all that much but well I'm not the best person to judge I haven't used controllers frequently for over a decade now.

What's the point of an SSHD as it's likely has 8GB of NAND, 16 GB max. If it can actively cache the next part of the level your playing I'd likely work great but I doubt they bothered to program it in.

I have forza 5 and Forza Horizon 2 with those 2 games and like..4 demos over 40% of my xbos hard drive is nommed...this practice of releasing larger HDD models later down the line needs to stop.

I'd only want one for Rare Replay.

Out of all those games I know only battletoads and fuck me if I ever play the brutal game again.

Hayden Panettiere simulator and Uncharted remastered over that crap any day.

Silver colored bits are actual metal, not painted silver.

It is a controller where you can customize it.

If I was in the market for an Xbox, I would certainly get this one. New controller, and an SSHD for the extra $100, seems like a decent deal to me.

How exactly does an SSHD improve game performance by 20%? Loading times - sure; but performance gains?

EDIT: Says system performance...very misleading.

Load time, of course.

Never heard of it or saw it in my life. We probably had like one nintendo 64 in Lithuania and I sure as hell didn't have that one.

And Banjo 1 and 2 (no thanks for 3/N&B, Perfect Dark and RC PRO AM?

And thanks to this collection and a few other games, the Xbox One seems way better than PS4 to me

n64 emulation is very spotty

JlgCVlS.gif

1. not all those games you can emulate (there are some 360 games on it)

2. emulation doesn't always work flawlessly (glitches textures and stuff)

3. there are some Xbox One games I'm interested in too, not only this compilation.

Anyways, WAAAAY off topic

Dunno about you but adding an SSHD and a new controller doesn't cost $100.

The retail price of the controller is $150.
