SUHD/UHD tv VS Projector.

zyxep

Hi guys,

I broke my old samsung tv last year and i want to get a new one only for movies and NFL (from NFL GamePass).

I am into really good picture and i love Samsung's TV.

But would a 65" or 78" SUHD/UHD TV from Samsung beat a good projector or what should i go for ?

I also like the idea of curved TV.

if the projector is really genuinly good then a TV won't beat it.

The sad part for projectors the really good ones cost a kidney a hand.

...really good picture ......................  projector

There's NO projector that can get even close in picture quality of a decent TV...

So you would recommend a UHD/SUHD TV ?

900 dollar epson 1080p 3d, 80 dollar screen. boom up to 350 inch picture size or down to 40 if you want it smaller. you wont beat the size to price of a projector, if thats what you want anyways. i will NEVER go tv again for my home cinema, gool old projector is here to stay.

But is the picture quality really that good ?

i "don't" care about screen size, other than i won't go lower than 55" for a TV :)

let's put it like this - find a TV that you like, look at the price.

Browse some cinema projectors at that price and decide wich one will be better.

If you have really good setup - projector, screen, lightning, distance then the projector will look good and the quality will be there

Also remember that you need distance from the screen to projector so be sure your room is big enough.

Also you can try to query a clerk at local electronics shop they will surely help you out.

1080p (forget 3d ) from a low end projector (yes, $900 is low end shit) on more than 40" is absolute crap, shit, garbage- call it what you like.... Projectors have many strong sides, but all of them have one HUGE problem- lack of picture quality... In term of "quality for price" you just can't beat TV... In fact projectors that can bring quality picture has nasty price tags waaaaay over $5000, even over $7000...

PS: Please, don't tell me that you use some Epson Home Cinema Power Lite (or something like that)- this thing is absolute shit, I won't sell it on my worst enemy...

I have a 1080p optima hd141x the picture quality is superb and this is coming from a fellow picture quality fan boy. With a 120" screen you can forgive the small downfalls you get with a projector like needing a dark environment with dark walls. Obviously a UHD TV is going to beat the 1080p projector on resolution and colour but the experience is so great on the projector you won't even notice. As far as low price means suit argument goes this is invalid and I can guarantee you these people don't have a projector and have not experienced a good 1080p projector my projector cost around £800 and blows any other viewing experience out of the water plus you get the added benefit of 3d which is pretty cool. Ultimately it's personal preference though I see a projector being perfect for NFL but get down to your local electronics store and ask for a demo of some projectors.

I use the Optoma hd131xe (The previous version of the dude above) and its a fantastic experience for movies, I personally believe that the 100+ inches you can have it at is well worth losing some pixels that you are likely not to notice once your a certain distance away, but my answer as to if you want a projector or not is based on your room conditions and money you are going to put into it.

It's a relative small room but do plan to move but i think i have decided to go with a UHD tv instead of a projector even though a projector would be awesome to have for a real life cinema.

Yeah probably best 4ks not that important at the moment but it will be soon most likely and it's way too expensive for 4k projectors.

If you want picture quality first, you should get an oled display. I suggest you wait until those are more affordable.

Just take some uhd video of your son before you sell him then get the projector and put the video on loop she won't even notice he's gone [emoji1]
