HELP Need Tiny Gaming Display (<18.5")

lukezon

So I'm looking for a decent gaming monitor for under 18.5 inches.  Before you ask, no there is absolutely no way it can be any bigger.

For those of you wondering, I need to mount this monitor inside the top of a briefcase and so it needs to fit inside.

NEEDS:

-18.5" or less (including bezel it needs to fit inside an 18"x13" hole)

-VESA mount (any size will work 75mm, 100mm, etc.

-Widescreen (16:9, 16:10)

-bottom facing plugs (It will be mounted up against a flat surface and so I will need to access cables from below)

WANTS:

-1080p

-Speakers

I haven't thought of a good signature yet.

I'm interested in why you need it that small tbh.

Could rip a display from an old laptop.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

We're gonna need a little more info. Why under 18.5? What features are important to you? Which display port?

Terribly difficult for OP to respond if he doesn't see there's something to respond to. Haven't seen him on this page since I've been here.

I'm not.

I've never followed a thread of my own. Notification spam usually.

I just check back on it frequently (varies depending on how important it is)

Could rip a display from an old laptop.

I am mounting the display in the top of a briefcase, so it needs to be tiny enough to fit inside.  I don't really have an old laptop to rip from, but that sounds like a decent idea.  Any ideas of where to find one?

a lot of smaller displays are older and have large bezels. is it a screen size restraint or a overall size restraint?

It is an overall size restraint and yea after looking around I have started to notice that.  Alot of them are in more square aspect ratios as well as apposed to the more common 16:9 or 16:10 these days.

you can just go to amazon/newegg and sort by screen size

Have tried this, none of the monitors seem too good.  Thanks for the suggestion tho.

100mm vs 75mm doesn't matter to me.  I just need it to have screw holes in the back so that I can mount it myself.  I would like it to be 1080p if possible but I realize that might be hard.  Speakers would be nice, although not a necessity.  Don't care too much about refresh rate as long is it is above 60.

Thanks for the link although I don't think I will be using any of those.  I am looking for something widescreen.  My fault for not including that info in the post.

I have updated the initial post to include this stuff as well:

Replying on mobile, so I don't have my link anymore. Newegg search came up with 0 1080p displays last night. Go to Newegg > find monitors > search for 18.5". That's the link I would have given you. I'll try to get one off mobile really quick. Be back...

hmmm. Ok thanks.  Either of you have an idea of what to use in this case?  Maybe a laptop monitor?
