help zotac 980 ti amp high idle tempatures

i just installed a zotac 980 ti in a phanteks ethoo pro. i have dual 140mm fans pulling in from the front and dual 120mm fans attached to the hard drive bays blowing on the card. my card is 60 c at idle and i have no idea why the led lights arent working . i have 2 cards  that i plan on running in sli as soon as my new power supply shows up i tried both and there both around the same tempature zotac website is absloutly no help

If it's fine under load I wouldn't worry about it. Try GPU-Z

Any background processes utilizing the GPU?

What's your complete fan setup, where and how many exhaust fans?  Those Corsair fans on the top, are they pulling air into the case or pushing out?  And the fans connected to your HDD bay, are there any HDDs in the bays that may be providing warm air to the fans?

I think the fans that are blowing on it are working against the airflow, I'd be having them exhaust instead of blowing against the card.

I want to know how you have set up all your fans.

I'm running 2x Titan X with EVGA ACX 2.0 coolers and their idle temps are 29-33C each.  So your 980ti with those triple cooling fans shouldn't be giving you 60C.

Also check that all the cooling fans on the GPU are working.

the gpu fans are working because if i turn them up manualy my tempatures drop to around 45c but thats at 80% fan speed

Ok do the following:

1. Check to make sure all the fans on the GPU are working (also make sure you have removed all plastic protective film and stickers)

2. Disconnect the 2 HDD bay fans and check the temperature

3. Check to make sure there isn't any process utilizing the GPU.

And importantly, use GPU-Z to check the temperature.  And also check the GPU fan speed percentage.

And what's that red circuit board connected above the GPU?

ok thanks ill try that now

Oh and also check what GPU-Z is saying about the GPU load.

Oh and both my Titan X's are from Zotac, I simply ordered the ACX 2.0 coolers from EVGA and changed the stock cooler out myself.  Just letting you know in case you received faulty hardware from Zotac, and as you seem to have 2 GPUs already chances are very low that both would be defective.

It could be that Zotac used low quality thermal paste on their custom coolers.

For the LED lights, check the settings nVidia GeForce Experience > My Rig > LED visualizer.

By the way, you visually checked to make sure all 3 GPU fans were running while the computer was turned on, right?

What I would do if I were you, and mind you I have experience working with complex circuit boards, is take the GPU's backplate and cooler off.  Clean the GPU processor and memory chips with some rubbing alcohol, apply a new layer of thermal compound (a much better quality one) and put it all back together.  When you replace the thermal compound for the GPU, also wipe off the old thermal compound on both the GPU chip and the cooler's surface.

And make sure that all the right thermal pads are where they are supposed to be, else you will need to buy some good thermal pads and place them yourself.

I couldn't find on Zotac's website instructions for installing/removing the AMP edition's coolers for the GPUs.

However this is a link to EVGA's ACX 2.0 installation instructions: http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/100-FS-2990-B9.pdf

You could perhaps use it as a guide.

I also checked online to make sure that the AMP edition of the 980ti wasn't meant to run idle at higher temp, and it doesn't seem to be the case.
