Weird Things Happening With Monitor With Different Backgrounds.

Alright, so i changed my wallpaper today to something with a black background and like different pixels in random places were like flickering different colour randomly in some spots, but when I changed the background to something with a different black background, it stopped. Only on like two certain background, does this happen. Is my monitor dying? Or does it just for some reason not support the colour space that the background is producing and is going haywire? Also, the background are higher resolution than the monitor itself--would that have something to do with it?
