laptop overheating

noon123

Hi,

So.. I use "Speccy" to keep an eye on my cpu temperatures of my laptop. Under my normal load (1 youtube video, 5-10 Chrome tabs and a couple Word documents) the temperature is 105°C - 115°C (221°F - 239°F). Even under light load it's 90°C (194°F) When  I play  TF2 my gpu temperatures stay under 70°C  (158°F).

I don't know how much I can trust Speccy but is this normal? And are there things that I beter schouldn't do like playing games? I really don't want to fry my laptop  ;) .

Thanks!

specs:

hp pavilion 15-p266nb

cpu: A10-5745M

gpu Radeon R7 M260

115°c = molten cpu.

maybe try a different program to monitor things.

i personally use openhardwaremonitor. it has its quirks, but seems to work in most cases.

The laptop should shut down if the cpu reaches over 105C.

Check with other programs to make sure about it. Do the fans ramp up? is there warm air coming out of the vents?

I'd say clean out dusts if there is any.

Also use HW monitor for reading temps!

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

Yeah... the fans ramp up, there is coming heat out of the vents and sometimes I almost burn my hand when I lift it up...

Installing openhardwaremonitor and HW monitor at the moment.

I can't clean my laptop out because opening it, is not an option.

Speccy and HW monitor show the same results.

Buy a cooling pad. (A stand with a fan in it). That isn't anywhere close to safe temps.

Compressed air will only succeed in blowing dust further in. You need to take the system apart and thoroughly clean it out.

Replace the thermal paste while you're in there.

but he doesn't want to do it, a cooler pad won't really help. I would clean everything now, becuase my old laptop, I let it run hot, and now the CPU never runs below 60C even though the cooling was good, and I used mx-4, it will always stay bad.
