why peaple like to get i7 not i5 or i3

From a gaming perspective, it highly depends on the games you play.

An i5 will give you better performance then an i3 in multithreaded  games,

that are optimized to used 4 threads or more.

No, you will get mediocre performance or in some games run like SHIT!!

If you can afford an i5, get an i5.

I would personally go for an APU and get a R7 GPU and crossfire it instead of an i3.

...because people do more than gaming with their 1k+$ computers... mindblowing right?

i3 does not beat or tie a i7 in gaming. Also i7 will beat an i5 of the same generation due to it's high clock speed.

i3 3250 gtx 750 ti sc evga  4gb ram (i will upgrde ram to 8 gb)   i play battlefield game gta 5 ac unity a lot of game of 2015 , 2016 maybe 2017

Let me explain why, since i have a i7.

When i decided to upgrade from my FX i could have gone with a i3 to get same performance, i5 to get better, or i7 to simply LAUGH AT ALL YOU i5 PLEBS OUT THERE.

Cuz, i5 is average.... it is boring, nothing exciting..... Everyone and their mother has an i5. My vaccum cleaner has a i5....

I would say i5 helps with anything about a 750 Ti or 270X GPU.

The 4 cores vs. 4 threads will help in editing programs too. i5 4440 or 4460 is a whole lot more compares to something like an i3 4160

I have a FX8350, because of reasons.

The only reasonable upgrade for me would be a 5820k or better lol.

People are willing still spend $700+ on GPU. The $200 difference on CPU is a drop in a bucket.

If you argue "need". How many people buy $600+ iPhones actually "need" an iPhone?

The i7 is little more than twice the price of the i3. It's also twice as fast in adobe premiere. and faster in literally everything. Of course there is a little premium, but if you want stuff done quickly paying an extra 20% is not the end of ther world. The 3770k can also be overclocked to really be worth its price. Otherwise there are e3 xeons that perform just as well as locked i7s for the price of an i5.

People who have like $500 burning a whole in their pocket will get an i7 (gaming wise) i5 is more reasonable for gaming. i3 is eh good for a budget.

because i do so much more than game on my pc's.

cad, 4790K rig.

cfd sims, 8350 rig.

and the list goes on and on.

it's much deeper than bench scores and game scores.

if you have to make a living with it you have to spend the money to make money.

the rig I use at work has many, many cores and is pretty much worthless for anything i do here at the house.

and yes, part of it is because I can, but a 4690K would do 90% of what I do at home.

Go on try gaming with an i3 and a GTX Titan I dare ya'

ok I'll take the i3 and titan

so can i get an i3 to get a good perfermance in gaming and every think ??

well it depends on which generation if its haswell and above it will be an amazing cpu for $100 usd if its not than an i3 isn't really worth it

For gaming, Consider an i5 44460/4440/4690K(if you're into overclocking).

Best CPU for gaming.

yes it is but for price to performance the i3 destroys it

i3 for multimedia, any i5+ for gaming.

the i3 is an amazing cpu for gaming considering its price, it can hold its own against any i5 it wont be them but it does amazingly against i5's

There is a subjective performance difference between i7 and i5, both in desktop and in game (and especially in cpu heavy tasks). As a power-user, I find i5's hitch/stutter once in a while, which has disappeared with hyper-threading. In Gaming I have noticed the same thing for certain games, especially Frostbite Engine Games. This is my own subjective experience, and why I went from i5 to i5 and chose to eventually go the i7 route. If I had had a completely 100% smooth experience with previous i5's, I would still be using an i5.

Bottleneck of the century

That's way, way too general. You cannot determine if a CPU bottleneck will be apparent without at least mentioning the game you're talking about and what framerate you are aiming for. An i3 isn't going to be a serious bottleneck in most games at 60 FPS.
