Best? 3770K probably. You could also go for an i5 3570K.

3rd gen i3 probably wont bottleneck your 750 Ti

I wouldnt get an i3, I've seen severe bottlenecks in my friends pc with one (mind you a r9 280x/gtx970), don't know about 750ti, but i5 minimum would be safest, especially if you want to upgrade down the road.

If you can afford a i5 CPU, get it.

But an i3 wouldn't be a bottleneck.

For Future-ic reasons (From my perspective) I would go with the 3570k or non K (Overclocking can be fun =p)

I would allocate more of the money towards the GPU,perhaps R9 380 + 3570

With that GPU it's fine (Power usage is quite low) but OEM power supplies tend to be iffy

Trowing a 3570K or 3770K on a H61 mobo, doesnt realy make that much sense imo.

Unless he upgrades a mobo to Z77, but those will be most likely hard to get, and damm expensive new.

3570 non K for example, is what i would go for.
