Why would you need 2gb of VRAM in a HTPC? $80 MOBO? WINDOWS 7?This is a stupid build

It looks like a solid build to me, however there are a few things that I would change to save a little bit of money.

1.) I would buy some cheaper RAM. You don't really need flashy ram because this is a system that's going to be sitting inside a cabinet out of sight. You also don't really need that much unless you plan on using the system for some games but it's probably just because I'm a cheap ass and don't like to pay for things I don't need.

2.) If all you are doing is video playback, then you can probably drop the GPU. Integrated graphics should be enough for 1080p video playback (again, unless you are planning on also doing some gaming)

3.) Try to find a motherboard that's a bit cheaper. Do you really need a full ATX? Your case also supports micro ATX boards and they do tend to be cheaper (if just) than their ATX counterparts.

4.) I would have gone with at least a semi-modular supply since the case you chose has nothing in the way of cable management. You could always do what I did and shove them in a corner and tape them there, but that's messy and unprofessional.

I was going to say that you should opt for a cheaper wireless network card but I'm assuming that there is a specific reason that you chose that card. If not, try this card. I'm using it in my system and I'm very pleased with it's performance, especially for how cheap I got it for (got it for less than 20 USD used).

Great build so far but a little on the pricey side for my preferences.

Intel Xeon 1650 V0 (4.4GHz @1.4V), ASRock X79 Extreme6, 32GB of HyperX 1866, Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT, Silverstone Redline (black) RL05BB-W, Crucial MX500 500GB SSD, TeamGroup GX2 512GB SSD, WD AV-25 1TB 2.5" HDD with generic Chinese 120GB SSD as cache, x2 Seagate 2TB SSHD(RAID 0) with generic Chinese 240GB SSD as cache, SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 850, x2 Acer H236HL, Acer V277U be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4, Logitech K120, Tecknet "Gaming" mouse, Creative Inspire T2900, HyperX Cloud Flight Wireless headset, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

I just use my rig in the sig xD. its hooked up to the projector in my room which shoots backwards onto the wall. Guess im lucky that way. is there no way you can just move your current pc if you have one? why not buy a cheap arse used dell office pc and beef it up a tiny bit. these things really dont need to be super powerful to play hd video files via vlc or whatever, or through a disc drive, the real expense is power dvd 14 ultra for blu ray playback on windows.

Switch up to the GTX 950 for HTPC use (if you really want a standalone GPU). That'd give you hardware HEVC decode. No need for an overclocked one, as you want one to be quiet.

I'm fine with the rest. Personally though, I'd go for a cheaper motherboard / RAM and an i3. I'd probably skip the aftermarket cooler for an SSD too.

I will be selling one of this for cheap than the price on amazon http://www.amazon.com/XFX-1050MHz-Profile-Brackets-R7-250A-CLF4/dp/B00H5DJDL2 if you want I can send you the ebay link when it's up. I used this with xbmc and will do for light gaming.

I'd get something like a gtx 560ti used off of ebay, because it would rek that r7 250, and at a cheaper price.

well i don't want used :(. could you please review the one for me?

Worked Perfectly fine for me, but I think it's time for me to upgrade. <---The seller said this

It's not powered on, so the carpet wouldn't hurt the card at all. :)

Also a pretty ballin cooler, and should perform pretty darn close to the 750 ti.
