Get a (much) cheaper mobo and swap upto a better GPU (nVidia is king still with adobe), so a 980 might be good.

 

I have the rampage V and its a proper hardcore board, and I say this as an owner - unless you are a serious tweaker get something cheaper as all X99 boards essentially overclock the same (+-5|Mhz).

 

Also 2011 really doesnt benefit from fast ram....

 

Get some reasonable 2400Mhz stuff

I have that mobo and I love it however he wanted the black and red theme so that's why I chose the gaming one. I did forget the hard drive though so thank you for that.

Alot of people overspend on the motherboard, especially when they don't know the difference between power phases and different voltage regulators (i.e. intersill 95831 and IR 3580). IMO only the top tier motherboards are for OC benchers and extreme platform rigs. Alot of people also overspend to "future proof" to add SLI, more ram, though this makes sense, buy an appropriate motherboard for the components it will be paired with right now. If you plan on buying 4x video cards, get a motherboard that can support 4x16 pci. If you're going with one, you really don't need a mobo with more than 1x16 & 1x8 Look @ OP who has a nvidia 960. IMO To set it straight, if you are not a competitive bencher you do not need to spend more than 200 dollars on a good motherboard, unless you NEED a particular feature from that price range. There are cheaper boards, and yet still very good quality with red and black color schemes -- quite a bit, actually.

 

IMO the Rampage V Extreme is overkill in relation to the rest of the parts you have paired with it.

Yeah I am! I haven't heard anyone having problems though, thought that was unusual with the TUF series motherboards -- got it because of that! Love it

Nice! Most of what I heard was fairly minor but it's still weird. Anyways I don't want to take over this guys thread and make it harder for him to find his answers so yeah.

 

 

P.S. I'm running a 5820k, NH-D15, 16gb 2400, 850 EVO, WD Blue, 980 twin frozer (plasti dipped black by me), EVGA SUPERNOVA NEX 750, NF-A14 x4, and all in a Define S.
