ARK Survival Evolved. Minimum requirements?

DarkEnergy

I tested out the game on Steam because I have one day left. The minimum requirements seem not too bad except for the ram usage. But when I tried playing, my pc got butchered. I was in the low 20s fps playing on low. Is this game gpu or cpu heavy? My system certainly can't handle it. Specs below.

CPU - FX 8350 @ 4.5GHZ GPU - Radeon 5700  Mobo - M5A99FX Pro R2.0 RAM - Crucial Ballistix 16GB @ 1600 PSU - Corsair CX600M CPU Cooler - Hyper 212 EVO Storage - Samsung EVO 250GB, WD Blue 1TB

From what I've seen, it seems entering these 2 commands helps a bit with fps.

The game is still in alpha so it's very unoptimized. I get pretty poor fps as well.

The game is not complete yet, its really buggy for me even with 970 SLI.

Mine doesn't like getting overclocked. Even a couple .2 or .3 ghz more and I get passed the 60c mark.

What resolution is your monitor? That seems really low for your System - though admittedly, your GPU is likely bottlenecking the rest of your system. The FX-8350 isn't great anymore, but it can still handle stuff like 290x/780Ti.

iirc you can disable a few cores to get higher overclocks with out extra instability and heat output so disable start with 2 cores and see how for you can with out extra instability and then disable another 2 cores and see how far you can go than try playing arc again

This game seems to use all of the cores so disabling any won't help even if it is to overclock other cores.

Frankly, I think you're just going to have to wait until they optimize the game more, or buy beefier hardware. The game is Alpha after all. Performance optimization happens most at the end of the dev cycle.

It using all cores doesn't imply it's not being held back on the mainthread.

Looks to me about quadcore scaling max. Looks like to get a min. fps of 60 fps all the time, Haswell IPC is required.

i also have about 25 fps low on a gtx 770 and i5 4690K at 4.4 Ghz!

OP launch the game at low memory mode, or "no sky effects"

Lol worst game ever played on 980Ti looks like crap, runs like crap at 30FPS

Seriously Crysis 1 looks better then this

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.

Wow. This has to be one of the shittiest games I ever played. I'm getting 35FPS at "recommended settings" and 20FPS at Epic settings. ON A 980TI

@TheConverter I mean, sure, that's pretty low FPS for your setup... But seriously, it's in Alpha. Serious performance optimization is probably still months away at best.

Lol it's on Unreal Engine 4, no excuse when people run the Apartment demo's at +60FPS. Not only does it run like crap it looks like crap too on 2560x1440 everything maxed out. And 4.5GB of vram usage, can't even try 5K DSR out because I will run out of my 6GB vram.

I still have 8GB of ram and this was the first time in my life that I got an error from Windows that I've run out of normal RAM.

The Apartment Demo is... a freaking tech demo. Are you really comparing a highly polished tech demo - entirely used to help sell the platform, to an actual real game?

They are 100% non-comparable - unless ARK: Survival Evolved takes place entirely inside an Apartment?

@DarkEnergy FYI I just noticed, there's a typo in your title. The game is "ARK: Survivor Evolved", not "ARC". You may want to fix the title, so that people searching the forums will get the best results :)
