I would get a 1440p monitor. Something like an Asus PB278Q or similar.

I  would 1440p for now then upgrade to 4K if Pascal can deliver 60fps Ultra AAA

With your budget I'd go 4k. For example the Acer B276HK

I found that playing at such a high resolution is well worth running the game on high instead of ultra - in fact most of the time the difference is barely noticeable between those settings.

I know it can be like that for people but I just wouldn't buy into a resolution that your card can't comfortably run

I'd go for a 1440p monitor.

Best for gaming.

Asus PB278Q or Dell U2713HM.

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

depends on what you mean for comfortably - if you mean at a high enough detail that you can hardly see the difference and sit around 60fps, the 980ti can do that no problem.

I am debating between those two resolutions too, I am leaning towards 4k though.

Really cant go wrong with either. Any upgrade from 1080p will be nice.

For 1440p I would go with:

Asus MG279Q (Probably the best 1440p gaming/ips monitor out.)

Dell U2713HM

For 4k

LG 27MU67-B

Dell P2715Q

Honestly for 4k though I would wait. There have been hints of more 4k ips/g-sync/freesynce monitors being released this year.

It's funny because normally I have seen nothing but shame on 4k gaming. Sure you can't run stable 60fps ultra quality on the latest games, but I feel like a good amount of gamers play older games that isn't graphically intensive.
