Zotac 980ti vs Gigabyte 980ti G1

DarK-

Hey guys,

This might sound like an obvious answer, but read on and you'll maybe understand my dilemma!  :D

So currently, I have the opportunity of purchasing a reference cooler Zotac GTX 980ti for $800(with employee discount, not from NCIX) or the Gigabyte G1 version for ~$1000 after taxes from NCIX.

Now, I know the obvious cons of having a reference cooler/card is that it'll run much hotter, and is base clocked without any additional manufacturer OC. In terms of running hotter, I don't entirely care about the fact that it would run hotter than any other card with a non-reference cooler. As much as it may make some of you wanna rip your hair out :P , I don't really care about trying to run all my parts as cool as possible. The argument I'd be more interested in having is whether or not if spending the extra $200 for the reference 1000MHz to the OC mode on the G1 1100MHz/1200MHz would be well worth the investment. As well, any regards to the hardware itself due to the difference in manufacturer(warranty, customer service, etc.).

What do you guys think?

I really appreciate all your guys' help

Do you have other options? The Zotac card is a bit noisy and the G1 Gaming....I'll let this video speak for itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAILvRdtP6s

Edit: And my GTX 970 G1 Gaming is just as bad-Gigabyte skimped on the fan motors.

Thank you for the video, but I'm a bit confused on whether or not that's loud compared to a reference cooler or not haha.

In terms of other options, I don't see any other good deals that is good, and keeps my prices low. So as of right now, it's what I have posted.

Its not much quieter than the reference cooler which is the problem.

Here is a comparison chart of the card that I myself see as the best option for low noise: http://www.overclock.net/t/1564092/hexus-inno3d-geforce-gtx-980-ti-ichill-x3-ultra-review

Also, part of the G1 Gamings problem is the fact that it only uses 80mm fans, the inno 3D 980ti while not looking as good uses 90mm fans.

With the reference cooler you get (and reference clock of course) you get 20% less performance (reference:100% custom:120%). The custom options is 25% more expensive here. Therefore I would buy the reference model. 1000 bucks is just too much. Also you can still increase the clock on the reference card if you need more power. It wil just be louder so you better have some noise protection ;-)

this sound i know, but it is not a problem as my fans are spinning under load also under 50-60% so u don't hear it so hard if your case is closed

G1 is quieter than a reference card. The problem with the gigabyte cards was that the fans RPM was was too hight on the original bios. The f4 bios resolved that issues. I never even even hear my g1

I personally love my G1, but get the best deal possible. It always comes down to the silicone lottery.

Avoid a Reference Design. If possible get the amp!extreme. Quiet and super fast, the next fastest card is the MSI Lightning, the G1 is on 3rd Place, still very fast.
