My FX9590 keeps overheating under load

it is probably your motherboards CPU socket that is overheating. Unless you have the Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 or Asus ROG Formula Crosshair, AMD does not guarantee that your mobo will handle the 9590.

Those two motherboards are the ONLY ONES that AMD is confident can handle the TDP.

On earth do you overheat a socket....the most extreme Intel overclocks ive seen can't overheat a socket...

I use an H105 with custom thermal compound the fans that it came with on my FX9590. I don't have a spot for a larger rad and don't have room for a push/pull. The 9590 has 8 cores clocked at 4.7GHZ. I have done everything I can but still it over heats. How can I keep it cooler preferably without doing a custom loop? Thanks for the help

Maybe use a Fan speed control andset it to max speed?

Try replacing the cooler and make sure your pc has good enough airflow. Adding cheap case fans can solve that.

If not, try downclocking the CPU or turn the AC on.

If it still doesn't help, get a new CPU.

The 9590 is known to be a room heater.

Underclock to 4.2 or even 4.0 ghz and see if it does overheat still.

I have the 9370 air cooled 4.4ghz and run at 42 to 45c no issues, thats idle, load about 52 to 55c no issues

Re-apply thermal compound. If it's not applied correctly it can really mess up your day.

Most intel chips doesnt START at 220w TDP... they "end up" at 220w TDP....

 

when you start at super high TDP, things only get worse...

what is the ambient temperature (room temperature)?

what software app are you using for monitoring?

what fan speed are you using?
