Anyone know if Ikea Linnmon table tops are good?

CurlyCucumber
Go to solution Solved by W-L,

I'll have to see if I can get something to work.. Two of them won't fit, I don't think. I'll have to do more measurements tomorrow. So you think I should avoid the linnmon series then?

For a large setup like what your doing yeah, the klimpen being solid material is a way better option especially in the long run.

Hey everyone!

Found out that these table tops can be sent to be for about 10 dollars, so I was planning on ordering them tomorrow. Link: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00251338/

My only problem is, one person said after a bit of using it, it began to warp because the inside of it is made of this cardboard honeycomb type structures. Apparently anything heavy will "go right through it."

Here's the link: http://nickerwin.com/2014/06/ever-wonder-whats-inside-of-an-ikea-table-top/

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd like to have three monitors eventually, a keyboard and mouse, some speakers, and stuff like that. Should I go with the Klimpen table top instead? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80277768/ They're a lot more expensive and take around 40 dollars to ship instead of 10.. would it be worth it? Or should I be fine with the Linnmon ones?

I want this desk to last a long time, and it's bumming me out that this might not work for me.

I knew some of that stuff was hollow but I though those were always solid particle board well....

Unless your putting a super heavy load on the desk you should be fine usually with solid particle board or MDF.

I would, but I don't have 500 dollars to spend on a desk, although I'm sure that's a sweet ass desk.

Hm, alright. Well, I'll see if anyone else has the desk and can give me some hands on info if it "warped" or not. Maybe this would be better? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80277768/

I saw the other one, but the length doesn't work for me. I'd be able to fit one but I couldn't fit another. That's why I want two of the other desks, since they fit just right.. just realized these http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80277768/ wouldn't fit either.. gosh darn it.

It says fiber board compared to the Linnmon series which says paper so I would hope for it to be a solid piece not to mention it weighing almost 3 times as much, being over an inch thick solid material you could sit even a few people on it no problem.

I can't get that. Shipping is 350 dollars. I live in Wisconsin, where there is sadly no ikea stores. :/

I have those. and they are just fine.

What do you all have on your desk? No signs of warping?
