Setting up Operating system in a smaller SSD drive

RandomRunner

Hi Guys

I want  to put my operating system on SSD drive -  from a 2T hard drive.

How do I do this. I want the drivers etc to be picked up from the 2t hard drive

So far all I have seen is 1) start fresh 2) try to copy hard drive to hard drive  - not going to work in my case.

Is there a program that would just move the operating system and important drivers?

Be specific.

What's the capacity?

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

There is no such programs just to move OS and drivers.

For that you'd have to Make Clean Installation.

i think there is cloning software for os, with that being said if you do clone it, clean install after. Clonezilla is one, normally they come with the ssd

I thought he was saying Only OS files and drivers from the OS drive not any other files.

My mistake.

Clonezilla, I'd have recommended that.

I don't know of any software that can clone only your OS and drivers. This would be pretty complex and I have never seen any software to do it.

You could do a clean isntallation of your OS, which would leave you with a cleaner OS and shouldn't be too hard if you have your licences handy.

Alternatively you could reduce the amount of data on the drive to fit onto the SSD then clone it, but this would require you to move your data off the HDD.
