Monitor not detecting pc

I used the pc with a hdmi cable with my TV and it worked, but now that I plugged the my dell p2414h in using a dvi cable the monitor isn't detecting the computer? What do I do?

Some monitors require for you to tell it "I'm using this cable" for it to display anything. Check monitor settings.

Thanks the auto select didn't select the dvi cable for some reason
