best case LED lighting?

Halket

So I plan on buying the corsair 450d and equipping it with some thermaltake riing white LED fans. I also want to include some ambient case lighting by the window, and the obvious choice for RGB would be the corsair link, or so in my eyes. Do you guys have any better solutions for RGB case lighting?

Thanks,

Peter.

hell yeah. that stuff is expensive as hell. go pick up ebay or amazon 5050rgb leds. they run off 12 volt, so you can get a molex to barrel connector(what they use) for a few bucks. you can get 30 feet of lighting plus everything you need for sub 30-40$

in the us anyway*

If you're looking for RGB lights, I'd recommend the NZXT Hue. That's if you have a front drive bay spare. All controlled through 3 knobs on the front. You can turn the brightness down too, so you can achieve the correct amount of 'ambience' you like.

If possible I'd like not to use up drive bays to give my case a cleaner look, but it would mean I can control the exact colour of my lighting.. predicament.

You can set RGB kits from say Modguru or Icemodz which use a controller type setup and all premade if you don't want to have to do more work with rolls of LED strips.

they seem like good options, what length strip should I get to do bottom, side and top of the window in a 450d?

Usually having LED strips on both the top and bottom are more than enough to illuminate the case, just be sure to not have a direct line of sight to the LED strips themselves and have them cast that light out to evenly light the components inside.

so I would probably need two LED strips with an extension to run across the side just to do the top and bottom?

Some kits come with an adapter or splitter you can separately purchase to run two or more LED strips or have a single longer strip tha you can say run along the top and down the side.

I like software controll for my RGB LED, since that gives a lot more ways to create interesting effects.

Plus it allows for a total of 6,6 meters of LED strips split over 4 channels, which is more then enough for most cases.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.

IMO the best result is gained from custom lighting with LED strips. Unfortunately there aren't many options that allow you to have software control over them.

Corsair Link is impossible to find these days (or or it seems), but there's the alternative of Corsair Commander Mini, but from what I hear the software is abysmal

That's some crazy expensive Solution in my country, 42 Euro just for that splitter with bluetooth.

as opposed to a 6  Euro remote controlled adapter.

Its 30 Euro for the one with only usb, but yeah, its more expensive.

However, what you can do with it is also far more then a normal remote.

So its up to you whether or not the price is worth the extra functions.

They explain it very well in the video, but its basicly: Software sensors (e. g. CPU load, network etc.), Control by sensor inputs (temp sensors), better controll over transitions/effects and better control over colors.

I dont belive a remote controller can do any of that.

I speak my mind, sorry if thats a problem.
