CPU target temps

hi guys,

 

On my current computer (pre-fab from sedatech) the CPU target temp is at 60°C (140°F) ... I also saw that a CPU can easily go to 90°C ?

So why is it limited to this temperature ? My whole computer starts shaking if I play some games from the fan hitting more than 7000rpm I think...

Can I safely change this without damaging my CPU ?

 

I am changing to another PC though in a week or so, so it's not as much for me, but for my younger sister who will be using it from now on ...

Just because your CPU might be able to withstand higher temps doesn't mean it should... You probably want to keep it at 70 degrees Celsius or below under load. Maybe buy a new cooler?

My FX-8370 is at 32c to 37c if AMD Overdrive is a trust worthy source... (Hyper 212 Evo)

 

So I would worry if your CPU is from intel and has such high temps as 70 to 80c...

it's not a laptop, but a pc I bought that was already built ... 

the specs are:

 

FX-6300

8gigs of Ram

GTX 660 (from palit)

and other generic components...

 

And I don't know if a new cooler will fit on it ... the case is an MS-tech longhorn I think ...

Cool but beware the stock fan of FX-6300 is not very good cause its small and noisy! ;3

My FX-8370 is at 32c to 37c if AMD Overdrive is a trust worthy source... (Hyper 212 Evo)

 

So I would worry if your CPU is from intel and has such high temps as 70 to 80c...
