Why is Directx 12 not showing up in games

Go to solution Solved by BeyondRico,

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro for the main reason of getting better performance in games thanks to DirectX 12. So I launched up Farcry 3 and a couple of other games and there's no option for DirectX 12 only 11 or 9 so could someone explain to me why, is it because the games don't support it or what?

The games are not created with directX 12 support, only games in the future will have support for directX 12

Yeah games dont support it. Unless there is some kind of patch or remake it wont support dx12. New games that come out will feature dx12

Games have to be coded for DX12. In about a year all new games will support it.

Game devs will have to release patches that support Dx12. Most games will not add support for it unless it has just recently been released. Newer games will offer support for it.
