Will my GPU and CPU Cooler cause problems when using my MSI Z170A Krait Motherboard?

Go to solution Solved by You_are_a_cunt,

use 90deg angle SATA cables to avoid the GPU messing with them

the CPU cooler shouldn't interfere. It might come close to the GPU, but it won't matter. afaik there's somewhat of a standard regarding how much space the CPU coolers can take up when going down towards the PCI slots

Hello all, I am wondering if my graphics card, due to it's size, will cause problems with my motherboard.

The motherboard that I will be using in my build will be the MSI Z170A Krait - http://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/Z170A-KRAIT-GAMING.html

The graphics card that I will be using in my build will be the Sapphire Nitro R9 390 - http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=C436E37C-8A09-48B6-9F2B-F4AF86E377B6〈=eng

I am wondering, will this graphics card get in the way of my SATA connectors for my storage drives? I notice that one of the PCI x16 slots means the GPU goes right by them.

Second question, if I use the other PCI x16 slot, will my CPU cooler (Phanteks PH-TC12DX - http://phanteks.com/PH-TC12DX.html) get in the way?

I'm just a bit worried about parts not all fitting on the motherboard.

My full build if anyone is interested: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Cameronazzi/saved/jWYYcf

All feedback is appreciated.

you should be able to fit a Graphics card in the top slot, notice that top PCI-E slot doesn't align with the first slot on your case, it's dropped down one. Also you can buy low profile sata cables if need be.

That's reassuring, thank you very much! I hadn't noticed, but it's useful to know :)

Thank you for the replies. I'd forgotten about 90deg SATA cables. It should be alright then! :)
