2000 CAD gaming rig

I am going to be buying a PC this fall for mainly gaming purposes, currently my budget is 2k for the rig and 1k for peripherals. I want to get two 144hz 1440p monitors and a mechanical keyboard and a mouse. However I still need to find those components (suggestions welcome). So I made this build, in an ideal world I will have a 980ti in my rig. So this is the build to fulfill that. Please leave your suggestions below http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/6qyV8d

  • you need a better cpu cooling solution. you aren't going to achieve a good overclock with that cooler. get a corsair h60 or a noctua u12s or even u14s

i would just get a 120gb ssd... unless you really need the extra space

just make sure your 980 ti is NOT voltage locked. if it is, it will reduce your ability to overclock the gpu to its full potential

i would avoid nzxt cases all together. they are not very good quality

i would get a seasonic or evga psu instead. evga g2 or gs series are great

get windows 8 or 10

in terms of a 1440p monitor, acer has a good one, as does benq for less than the rog swift, which is the king of tn panels at least

I tried to stay in budget but the monitors cost $1100 alone and I didn't want you to lose any performance.

So here it is http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/xwmDgs

the extra 300 aint a huge deal, the highest I'd go is 3.5k but I'm also gonna wait for maybe some black Friday deals. Some reason they happen in canada

don't want to have to cheap out on monitors o peripherals tho

shouldn't really have to much...you can get a z170 for not to much

and the i5 6600 is almost the same price as the 4690

the z170 should be upgradeable longer...probably the better idea

especially since intel said they are cutting back on the tick tock cycle

also..what I would consider doing is getting 1 monitor now..or whenever you buy this

then get another monitor when you get a bit more money..or when our dollar isn't crap

yes but I don't want to compromise on peripherals

generally people worry about the heart of the pc first..then get more expensive keyboards and mice later

just get some cheap 20-30$ mouse and keyboard now..then get the others later

might even get them for x-mas

I might stick to one for now, certainly in your build I'd upgrade the cooler possibly the HDD but definitely gonna look at the 6600k
