Slow SS

adamhaas98

Hi guys

so I have a 120Gb intel 520 series SSD for my boot and programs drive, and I am getting very slow startups at the moment.

I did a bios update and sata controller driver update and then optimized the drive with defraggler. The boot still seemed slow so I benchmarked the drive and I'm only getting 94 Mb/s random read write speed. Can anybody suggest anything to help?

thanks in advance

Adam

DO NOT DEFRAG A FUCKING SSD.

Defraggler allows for SSD optimisation as well. I doubt OP would be dimwitted enough to try and defrag an SSD, anyhow.

Don't defrag SSDs...

He never said he had done that.

Also even if your defrag a SSD it wouldn't have an impact on read/write speeds.

94MB/s seems reasonable for random operations.

Make sure you have TRIM running in the background.

Use CCleaner to clear your registry.

Hey guys, firstly I have not defragged the SSD, I know it is pointless and does harm. In boot order it is set with the non uefi hard drive (intel ssd) to be first. My specs are

CPU: i5 4690k @4.5 GHz

GPU: asus r9 290

RAM: Corsair vengeance pro 2x4Gb

MOBO MSI Gaming 5 z97

SSD: Intel 520 (120 Gb)

HDD: WD black (1Tb)

As for the sata connection, I am not totally sure the cables I am using are sata 3 but I know the connectors are.

How do I check if trim is running?
