Got a good SSD deal today :3

So i decided on my way home from work to check out the local pc shop and see what kind of SSD;s they had, he had a lightly used 128GB for 56 bucks. So i figure eh its only going to be a boot drive and ill probly get a nicer one later on, ill take it. Heres the SSD.

It will be replacing my 250GB seagate 7200 rpm hard drive (boot)


As this is my first SSD ever, what are some precautions i can take with it. It will be running my OS.

No precautions anymore. Act like its a regular hard drive.

Not the best ssd but still better than a hard drive.

50 bucks for 128gbs. in canada the price for a 60 gb is 75 to 80.

It was pre tested extensively so im not super worried. just a cheap little ssd to replace a really bad dying HDD.

It was the V300, but there were some models that had the bad controller, NOT ALL.

Guys it's CANADIAN DOLLAR, not that bad for the price.

60gb is like 80 dollars here. and not even a half decent brand either. its 130 bucks for an 80 gb new.

For canada 56 bucks for a half decent 128gb ssd is a great deal.

I'd say an SSD (even one that might be slow - not sure), for less than 43 bucks, is great. Especially for a country that's not the USA.

I still have one of those 64 GB V100 drives running on a basic system for web surfing, I wouldn't say it's a  great deal since there are ones for say around $60-70 CAD

even if its slow they dont seem to understand it will be miles faster than my current hard drive which while 7200 rpm is dying and quick, its making clicking noises ffs xD

That SSD beats my current SSD anyway.

Intel X-25M 160GB.....but at least it was free.

There are 128GB models for that pricepoint of around $60-70 CAD. That 64 Gb model I was talking about is 6 years old not related to the price.

Eh its a good local shop, hes really great at testing his used stuff hardcore before selling and provides returns as well as swap outs and discounts if it does end up breaking even after passing all the tests.

Either way ill be going back for the new samsung evos he has in once my paycheques pile up a bit more, i just wanted this to mess around with and learn how to use these things and what they do before biting the bullet on something crazy. And once i get that other ssd this one can go into my parents pc, and boom, happy parents with speedy pc.
