1600Mhz underclocking?

Ram isn't inherently any clock speed. 1600mhz is the oc and you shouldn't have any issues running the ram at 1333 or 1066mhz.

So I wanna upgrade my RAM to 8gb as 4gb is not enough for me on the things that I do (photoshop, lightroom etc) and I was wondering if it was possible to have 1600MHz RAM on a board that only supports 1333MHz? My motherboard is an ASUS P5G41C-M LX 

 

Am I right to think that the motherboard will underclock it to 1333MHz or will it underclock to 1066MHz? The RAM I will be buying is a Kingston HyperX Fury Black 8GB 1600MHz CL10. Will the parts be compatible with my motherboard?

I want to buy this RAM because I will be hopefully upgrading soon and I don't want to buy another kit of RAM that is not 1333MHz and will be putting the new kit into the new rig.

If you go to the SPD tab, it should default to the highest non XMP SPD value.

The board is DDR2. That RAM is DDR3. It won't work. Would have been super iffy anyways.

 

Aaaand edit. It's a DDR2/DDR3 board. Still, I wouldn't go there.

The board is DDR2. That RAM is DDR3. It won't work. Would have been super iffy anyways.

The ram i'm using now are DDR3... no idea where you got it's a DDR2 board as it supports both.
