Upgrade Question 6600k and A70

Hello, my old Z68 motherboard crashed a week ago, and im going to buy the new 6600k and z170 MOBO, my question is, is my Corsair A70 cooler adequate for this CPU? I wont do any extreme OC, maybe just 4.3 - 4.4

I'd still prefer Skylake. It offers more than just a 5% increase in performance. Why do you think its a contest lmao

explain how this is different from a baseline sli supported z97 board. Well... It can support ddr3 3300... and thats about it.

yeah but that $60 could go towards the gpu and could make a big difference.

what else is it besides a 5% performance increase?

Well that's the thing. I'm not in a position where the $60 would matter enough to break budget. I'm sure from some perspectives there is "absolutely no reason to get it over haswell" but they are only playing games or browsing the internet.

Features? Sata Express, DDR4, PCIe 4, and a couple of other things.

ddr3 vs ddr4 doesnt make much of a difference

pcie 4 is coming in 2017, so by then there will be a new architecture and skylake will be outdated, and youll most likely need a new motherboard anyway

sorry, but to me skylake is an upgrade for those who have no budget and are upgrading from sandy bridge or lower

Pretty much. And in this case the OP is going from sandy bridge to Skylake.

The extra IO on skylake makes it really nicer if you might actually use more than 1 SSD and a couple HDDs...
