Not the "next big thing", at least not yet. Their i5 and i7 releases are pretty limited. I hope they release a few more LGA1151 chips in the near future.

@nicklmg Are we getting moving vlogs on vessel. You dont realise how many poeple want it; just look in the comments on vessel. PLEASE. At least an update on the office

PC is Intel Core i5 6400, GIgabyte H170 Gaming 3, Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x4GB 2400Mhz ,Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB, WD Blue 1TB, NZXT S340, ASUS Geforce GTX 960. Fractal Design Tesla R2 650W. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/793XNG. Graphics card choices don't always have to be dictated on performance. If you want the game stream and power consumption of the GTX 970 get that. If you want raw performance of the R9 390 get that. In the end we are all gamers, so what if your buddy gets an extra 5 fps?

Exactly.

Seeing some of the benchmarks and looking at how much I'd have to spend, I'm quite tempted to stick to a 4770k at this point

I'm in the new build boat (no PC at the moment, only Mac), and while I was initially tempted to go with Skylake, I'm not seeing any compelling reason to go with this.

Another great vid.

One thing I will say is that you should maybe instead of a clock for clock comparison, do a max OC vs Max OC on the same cooler (since I cant find any comparison of the like online currently), be it air of AIO water to show the real life difference between each new generation of CPU. A Sandybridge can hit 5ghz easily, a Skylake not so much. Show use the difference between a 5ghz+ Sandy and a 4.7ghz Skylake as we already know that each new generation of CPU will have better lock for clock performance.

Give us a Typical Sandybridge OC vs Typical SkyLake OC showdown. :)

Intel really needs to produce a CPU with a BIG performance boost.

While a 6700k will ofc show something around a 20% improvement clock for clock over a 2700k in synthetics, after OCing both to their max and checking game performance, the increase will be small.

What does "native support for Thunderbolt 3.0" mean? What's the Alpine Ridge chip used for then? Is it up to the motherboard to HAVE both to be able to offer TB 3.0 ports? So I would have to have the Z170 Plattform with the corresponding Skylake Chip and the Apline Ridge Chip on the mothboard (which currently only Gigabyte boards have) to have Thunderbolt 3.0 support?
Why do we only get the full support of the new HEVC (H.265) codec if we use the iGPU? So my PC can't use hardware accelerated decoding of HEVC through Skylakes iGPU or at all if I use a discrete GPU?

CPU gaming benchmarks done at 4k? thafuck?

Better than having results bottle necked by a 144Hz 1080p monitor...

A 144Hz 1440p monitor would be interesting though.

you can set the frame output by PC to be higher than that of a monitor, not really good for anything other than to compare numbers

but seeing their frame rates were still in lower 60s, some games wouldn't even hit 144 fps on 1080 with that setup

and also, higher numbers are gonna produce lower error %, if that makes any sense to you
