If Zen fails?

So kinda related to the other post but here goes. What do you guys think the outlook for AMD is if Zen fails?? Honestly I think Zen is for lack of a better word there last desperate gasp for air. If Zen fails I don't see them being able to recover from the money they used to develop the thing. What are your thoughts?

In general;

If AMD is going to make multicore CPUs with poor per-core performance, they should at least work with developers to help games utilise the power of multi-core systems.

if they manage to screw up Zen. They may as well start packing bags or start some R&D for better/cheaper GPU's

Do you think they'd have enough in the bank to even pay R&D to develop it??? I really think Zen is all or nothing.

In a tech magazine I read like 6 months ago it said that last year AMD barely made over 1 billion dollars. I mean that number seams big but it's really not to these tech super giants. With such little extra money they can only put so much into R&D and the cycle will continue until they can't put money into R&D. I really hope as a NVidia and Intel fan that AMD gets their ass in gear and releases some truly amazing products.

I agree! Is either of those companies an American based company? I'm worried that if AMD goes under Intel and Nvidia would get broken up as it would pretty much be a monopoly and I know you can't have a monopoly if your an American based company

AMD isn't limited to high end GPUs and CPUs. They've secured partnerships for future consoles I believe, and their APUs are still selling well for office type builds.

If AMD does fall, I hope they get bought out and someone continues to develop higher end components. If they go down, Intel and Nvidia would basically have a monopoly over the High end CPU and GPU markets respectively. It would not be good, there would be no reason for either of them to push the hardware forward. They need competition to encourage development.

Exactly was I was about to type. AMD will rely heavily on console sales.

They wouldn't really be bought out, becuase if another company will take over AMD, they get what AMDhas and will go down in the stocks. But really when ZEN comes out, wait for those reviews and test, from online, and if it's good buy it. I also hope they make a new socket.

I wonder how they would get ZEN on their all shit chipsets

well there is not really a competition. AMd put their APU's in both of the 2 most popular consoles, the XBone, and PS4, I don't really see a competition, with the WII U, with their IBM processors. If they fall why would those manufacturers put the chips, in system, when it will not help AMD out, when they really go down, in the hole.

Let's just hope we see an improvement in their CPUs. Even the first page of PCPartPicker is rarely speckled with a single FX CPU anymore.

Naw I'm saying they will be very dependent on the sales of the consoles financially if Nvidia and Intel continue to increase their domination in their respective markets. (Higher market-share for them = lower AMD sales = financial losses)

do you think, that NVidea will get back to consoles, graphics? Like with the PS3 the RSX was based on one of the desktop GPU's they had, in you know...... 2006. But they have lots of these GPU's in the shield, surface RT and some more. But this might be a fun try for nvidea, if they are able to.
