Canon EOS M - Can it do the job for me?

Ok in that case, call the store and see if they have the other cameras I mentioned.  Sony CX900 or Canon HF G30.  Hopefully it will save you some money, because the camera models will not be as expensive as the Canon XA 10 and non XLR mics tend to be cheaper.

You also get better frame rates on the Sony and Canon HF G30. with slightly better sensors.

Alright, I'll let you know (I'll give them a call later tommorow). Also, I can salvage the XLR microphone from my Panasonic DVC 200 (its a shotgun mic), which i've had absolutely no problem using, and it still works like a charm.

If you have a good working XLR mic, no need to buy another one.

Exactly. Thats why I wanted to go with a XA10. Anyway, if I get a less costy camera (such as a canon hf g30) I will be able to afford a mic with it too.
