If my other rigs motherboard didn't die last night, I could do that with mine... Maybe me and @vinyldash303 could get in a skype call and livestream marshmallows being slow cooked on a 480.

Then for the hell of it then you should download the trial of adobe premiere, and replace the 7970 in Athena with the 480 and export a video in 4K

Already have Premiere, but I never use it since I haven't really learned it yet. And I don't even record in 4K so there's no point lol

Here is a quick glimpse on the early cable management. I still need SATA cables (those will be here eventually), and I need to get thermal pads for my GTX 480. I have yet to determine what thickness though.

  • 1 month later...

Good news and bad news, along with some more bad news:

Good news:

Everything is progressing smoothly, and I have some of the basic wiring in to get it trained (the fans and case wires trained very nicely).

I threw my low-profile cooler in and it works, it just doesn't run the coolest (somewhere around 45C in the BIOS), but it is a lot quieter.

Bad news: I still don't have thermal pads for my 480, so it is still sitting torn apart in the box. Sadface. I might try to get them for my birthday on the 4th of November tho. :D

And the really bad news: The cooler from my 7950 fell and murdered my sidepanel window. So... That thing got fucked. Anyway, here are some pictures.

-snip-

That is looking very nice. Though its almost sacrilege using SATA HDD on a computer with an IDE and floppy connector (and my P5Q Deluxe would agree)..

Edit: Last 2 photos finally loaded. I think that after you get the cooling pads for your GTX 480, kill the 7950 with fire for loosing its cool(er).

Yeah no. This is a gaming build first and foremost. My dual PIII build will be IDE cables galore.

And it's not the card's fault. Just gravity's.

I did say almost......

"We also blind small animals with cosmetics.
We do not sell cosmetics. We just blind animals."

"Please don't mistake us for Equifax. Those fuckers are evil"
