Guide: How to upgrade to Win10, when you receive "something happen" error

For "something happened" error when you're running the media creation tool. Try these methods

If that does not work, then use another computer and select you want to upgrade windows 10 on another computer. Download the iso file, mount it, and them copy the entire contents to a USB flash drive.

 

For "something happened" error when you try to upgrade to Windows 10 or receive a error code 0x80070003 in Windows Update.

If that doees not work and all other method you tried on the internet has failed, then do this

 

1. Download Windows 10 using the media creation tool and copy the entire contents to a USB flash drive. The flash drive does not have to be bootable

2. From windows, insert your current OS disc and run setup.

3. Perform a repair install by selecting the "Upgrade" option.

4. After repair install is complete and your back into your desktop, insert the USB flash drive with Windows 10 in it, and run setup.

5. Now you should be able to upgrade to Windows 10

Note that repair install will only work, when you're log in to your desktop. Booting from your windows disc will not give you the repair install (Upgrade) option

Repair install might seem like there is nothing done to your OS, but it keeps your personal files and replaces all system files. The desktop background might change back to default. Just set it back to the one you're using before. Can't seem to find it? Then windows should keep a cache of it, in
