Cougar fans are orange and very quiet if you get the 1200 rpm ones orbe quiet fans, the low rpm ones.

I think the cougar is a cheap brand, and they should have some problems with their motors.

me neither, Cougar has been great for me.  I love my cf-v12hpb as a high performance/sp fan (1500rpm so fan control is important for noise) and the cf-t12s4 make great case fans at 4/30$ (less on sale)

edit: I've never used BEQUIET! before but Fractal Design's Venturi lineup is definitely worth looking at.  They have 120mm & 140mm sizes in AF & SP optimized fans

Are cougar fans "silent" and not just "quiet"?

well technically no fan is silent (edit: I guess thats why you put it in quotes) but they are very quiet depending on the rpm, their 1500 rpm fans make a little noise at full speed but at 1250rpm or so they are damn near silent.  I think the Fractal design venturi are a little quieter at the same rpm but the cougar might move more air at that same speed.  This is why I have so many different brands/models of fans, I cant make up my mind because there are so many options and pros/cons to each fan.

I like them quite a bit.  they are quieter and the noise that they do make (close to 1800rpm) is more tolerable than most

I think the that the best thing to do in this situation is to buy one of both and try them out? Or what do you think? :-)

I dunno that is what I did all along my fan buying experience and now I have 7 different types of fans in my case.  If I could do it over I'd get venturi's

I've never used those exact corsair's only some 120mm SP ones and I've only got the one venturi and it is the pressure optimized 120mm so I could not tell you for certain.  Fractal also make a airflow optimized fan in both 120mm and 140mm depending on what you need. http://www.fractal-design.com/home/product/casefans/venturi-series/venturi-hf-14

the specs sheet about half way down shows the specs for all their venturi fan lineup

I've heard good things from "reputable" people so I'd say they are probably a safe choice but I've never used them myself

Okay, but aren't Vardars, radiator fans?

And does noiseblocker have some deadline silent fans?

I believe they are pressure optimized fans yes

noiseblocker I've only heard of the eloops but I've heard good things about those too. I considered them but they were way to much here in the us last time I checked

and you can always use pressure optimized fans as intake fans (intakes really, if you are running them with filters).  all of my intakes are filtered and pressure optimized, they move a ton more air through a filter than an airflow fan.  exhaust is a different matter since there is little to no resistance so SP wouldn't help and could probably actually get less airflow than a good airflow fan as a non restricted exhaust

Okay, i have considered a filter pack for my air 540, also, on the rear fan mount in the case, i have mounted a 120mm radiator for my cpu cooler :-)
