Origin games on different disk, formatted C drive

FunkyFeatures
Go to solution Solved by legopc,

So the only way is to reinstall the game? That sucks. Even Bad Company 2 takes like 30 minutes for a reinstall.

I dont see the issue with reinstalling the game. As long as it doesnt re download the game im fine with it.

For op: Just copy you origin games folder to the D drive and then have origin point to it and install the games, it shouldnt have to re download.

I basically upgraded from windows 8 to 10, and thought I would use the opportunity to format my C: Drive. I did that, and Steam successfully sees my games installed on my D: drive, but origin doesn't. How do I make Origin look at the install, and confirm that it actually is installed?

i had origin install games overtop of themselves before, so i'm guessing origin sucks a few too many chunks to do this...

Gee man looks like you must be doing something wrong because i have reinstalled windows several times and I have never had to reinstall any origin games.

I have the download folder set to the D drive where all the games are still installed (since I didn't format that one), but it doesn't launch through Origin - just asks me to download. Then it says preparing installation immediately (so it definitely detects the files) but takes years installing it for whatever reason. It only says "Installing", with no percentage of how far it has gotten.

There are two folders. D:\Origin, and D:\Origin\DownloadCache

If that is what you mean, then yes.

I know I can do that, but if an 8GB game takes 30 minutes to install, I guess I better make sure I have time for a +200GB library of Origin.

yeah but I rather meant there should be two options for the folderpaths. since you only said you changed the downloadfolder to your D-drive I thought you might want to swap the installfolder as well ;)

It wont take an entire day... At most it will take an hour and you can just continue doing other stuff.

Two options, both on the D drive ;) D:\Origin, and D:\Origin\DownloadCache

At least now it is showing something - it is redownloading some files, that I am pretty sure I never deleted - BF3 is missing the DLC apparently.

Crysis 3: Starts with "Downloading 54%"

BF3: Starts with "Downloading 83%"

Why are the files missing when it all was installed on the D: drive and I haven't touched it?

I just changed the game folder in origin settings, rechecked the files (forget the name but you right click it) and after a few minutes your game works

Might start at 83% as windows 10 needs a few extra files or its still checking through the folder
